When installing your Outdoor Switch, choose a location where it can be properly mounted with the outlets facing down, so it can stay rain tight.
Additionally, router antenna strength and home construction materials are two common factors that can cause poor Wi-Fi signal strength. It may be helpful to complete the Outdoor Switch setup indoors near the router. Once the setup is complete, move the Outdoor Switch to its desired outdoor location.
If the LED flashes orange, that indicates that the Outdoor Switch does not have enough signal strength to maintain a network connection at that location.
Follow the steps below to mount your Outdoor Switch:
- Plug your Outdoor Switch into a grounded wall outlet and let the unit hang down freely.
- Note the approximate location of the hang tab, remove the Outdoor Switch and install the included mounting screw such that the weight of the unit rests on the mounting screw and not the power cord.
- Plug the Outdoor Switch back into a grounded wall outlet and install onto the mounting screw, ensuring the weight of the unit is on the screw and not the power cord.
- Ensure Outdoor Switch plug receptacles are facing downward.
