There are several instances where the product you’re trying to pair Instant Switch with will not show as being available for pairing. Certain products do not support an Instant Switch pairing. This includes iDevices Thermostat, iDevices products that need to be updated to a newer firmware (link to firmware article), and products made by other companies.
The iDevices product will not show for pairing if it is listed as “unreachable” in the iDevices Connected app. If the product is unreachable you’ll see the circle arrows where the toggle normally appears. Connect to the same Wi-Fi network as the product showing unreachable, unplug the device and plug it back in. If you are using a Wall Switch, Dimmer Switch or Wall Outlet, press the reboot button on the product. Allow the product several moments to connect to your Wi-Fi network. The LED will blink green rapidly to confirm it has connected to the network, then tap the retry arrows in the iDevices Connected app. Once the toggle appears and you are able to control the product, try to pair the Instant Switch again. If the app continues to display unreachable, the product may need to be reset and setup again.
The product will not show for pairing if its pairing limit has been reached. One iDevices product can pair with one Instant Switch. For Wall Switch and Dimmer Switch, secondary switches are included in this pairing. The limit for a Wall Switch or Dimmer Switch is two secondary devices, this could be 2 secondary Wall Switches or Dimmer Switches which would fill all pairings and not allow an Instant Switch to be paired. If the Wall Switch or Dimmer Switch has only one secondary device (3-way configuration), then an Instant Switch can be paired. Also in the single pole configuration, the Wall Switch or Dimmer Switch will allow two Instant Switches to be paired to it.
Note: Wall Outlet allows for two Instant Switch pairings, one for each outlet.
If the battery in Instant Switch is low, it will not allow the pairing process to start, if this is the case the app will display a pop-up notifying you the battery is low.
